Zeta Sigma Chapter

Brother Kenneth Gerrard Vinson was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. He began his musical career playing the snare drum in 6th grade. As he progressed through school, he learned several other instruments, including bass drum, clarinet, and trombone.

 

Brother Vinson began his studies on the timpani in the 11th grade, and performed a timpani solo for Senior Awards day when he was a senior, later lettering in band and receiving an orchestra certificate.

 

When Brother Vinson entered college, he played snare drum during marching band season and timpani during concert band season. During his tenure, Brother Vinson held a variety of positions in the bands at North Carolina Central University, including Assistant Drum Section Leader, Drum Section Leader, Vice-President, and President of the dynamic marching and concert Bands.
