Brother Benjamin B. Sherard

unnamed (2).png

Brother Benjamin B. Sherard began his musical career at the young age of nine years old.  Instructed on cornet under the direction of Mr. Edgar Graham, Brother Sherard continued with his lessons until he entered his last year at R.V. Daniels Elementary School.  It was then that he began lessons on cello under the same instructor, which proved to challenge his mind and expand his musical knowledge.

Ernest Wyatt, the Director of the James Weldon Johnson Junior High School Band introduced Brother Sherard to the trombone, and also assisted Brother Sherard in attempting to join all-county and all-state bands.

Under the direction of Julien E. White, Brother Sherard was named assistant section leader in concert band,
second chair first trombone in the symphonic band, and section leader in the jazz band. Brother Sherard also participated in the Gator Land Marching Band during his senior year of high school.

After graduating, Brother Sherard received multiple musical scholarship offers from several of the top colleges and universities across the United States.
