Brother Arnold E. George

Brother Arnold E. George was born in New York City, New York and raised in Cleveland, North Carolina. He was active in band starting in the 7th grade and earned several awards and recognition as he advanced through his grade school years.

 

Awards he earned included 2nd place in District Solo competition as a high school junior, and earning a spot in the N.C. All-State Band as a senior playing tenor saxophone.

 

In 1973, Brother George was selected to perform in the National Intercollegiate Band, held in Storrs, Connecticut, and was honored to receive the Most Outstanding Bandsman Award for his service to the band.

 

Brother George also served as an assistant pianist at Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church while serving the band.  He continued his service to music department as a dedicated professor in the Department of Music at North Carolina Central University up until the very end.

Brother George passed away in May 2022. We are forever grateful.
